Predicts genes (CDS) from a prokaryotic genome sequence using the external tool MetaGeneAnnotator.

Operation

  1. Load the target genome sequence for gene prediction into the current folder. Normally a FastA-format nucleotide sequence file is used, but a GenBank/EMBL-format file that already has some annotation is also acceptable.
  2. Confirm that the loaded sequence is displayed as the current genome in the main feature map.
  3. From the main menu, select Genome Analysis > ORF Finder > Prokaryotic Gene Prediction by MetaGeneAnnotator.
  4. A confirmation dialog for MetaGeneAnnotator is displayed. Click "Show Parameter..." to select the execution option. Select "-s" for a sequence from a single genome, or "-m" for a sequence from a metagenome.
  5. Clicking "Yes" starts execution, and a progress dialog is displayed while it runs.
  6. When the prediction finishes, the dialog closes and the predicted CDS are registered and displayed as Features on the current genome. If a ribosome binding site (RBS) is detected, an RBS Feature is also registered.
  7. Since this prediction result is not saved automatically, use the Save or Save As function if you want to save the result.
